CHM 1040 - General Chemistry A (Expanded Sequence) (BC Course Description and Outline)
This course introduces students to chemical measurement, stoichiometry, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, inorganic formula writing and the naming of inorganic compounds and changes in energy.
Students may sign up for this course without being placed by the Testing Center or meeting with the Associate Dean. This course is transferrable in a degree seeking program.
General Chemistry is geared towards students majoring in the Sciences.
General Chemistry A is the first part of a three sequence expanded program for General Chemistry. See below for the complete sequence:
CHM 1040 - General Chemistry A
CHM 1041 - General Chemistry B to be taken concurrently with CHM 1045L - General Chemistry I Laboratory
CHM 1046 - General Chemistry C to be taken concurrently with CHM 1046L - General Chemistry II Laboratory
[The condensed sequence General Chemistry courses are CHM 1045 with CHM 1045L and CHM 1046 with CHM 1046L.]
