Payne Hall CHM 1025 - Introduction to Chemistry (BC Course Description and Outline) Selected topics from general chemistry and organic chemistry. Topics covered, include chemical measurements, stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding, inorganic compound nomenclature and formula writing, gases, liquids, solids, solutions, acid-base chemistry, oxidation-reduction chemistry, energy, hydrocarbon nomenclature, functional groups of organic chemistry, and nuclear chemistry. Students may sign up for this course without being placed by the Testing Center or meeting with the Associate Dean. This course is transferrable in a degree seeking program. Introduction to Chemistry is geared towards students majoring in Environmental Science. The accompanying lab (CHM 1025L) is offered concurrently. These courses are only offered in the Winter Term (January through May). [If you are seeking a degree that requires the full sequence of chemistry courses, do not register for this course.
